Job Description

Deputy Manager - Short Breaks Service - Band 6, Guernsey

Children and Family Community Services

Grade: Band 6 £46,152 - £55,579 BAR £57,375 - £62,310 per annum.

Closing date: 22/7/205

The States of Guernsey is seeking a Deputy Manager for the Short Breaks Service within Children and Family Community Services. This full-time role offers a competitive Band 6 salary, enhanced pay for unsocial hours, and benefits including an annual bonus and pension. A relocation package is available for candidates moving to Guernsey, along with an 8-year Long Term Employment Permit for off-Island candidates. 

Working unsocial hours on a Saturday, Sunday or Public Holiday or on weekdays between 8pm and 6am will attract payment at an enhanced rate as follows:

  • Monday to Friday 8:00pm – 06:00am – 40%
  • Saturday – 40%
  • Sunday and Bank Holidays – 80%

KEY CRITERIA:


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Registered Nurse, Registered Social worker.
2. Evidence of CPD at Diploma/Degree Level.
FULL QUALIFICATIONS (TO BE ACHIEVED BY SECOND GATEWAY):
3. Teaching / Mentoring Qualification.
4. Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement or equivalent (D32/33, NVQ
A1).
5. Diploma in a related field.
6. BTEC assessor in positive behavioral support


ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
1. Post registration experience in Learning Disability with evidence of knowledge of child
development.
2. Evidence of effective communication skills with reference to
Multidisciplinary team working, service users and their families.
3. Understanding and ability to apply evidence-based care.
4. Ability to prioritise and manage own workload.
5. Professional and flexible approach to work.
6. Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
7. Enthusiastic and Positive attitude
8. Motivated
9. Credible and trustworthy


DESIRABLE:
10. Leadership Management training.
11. Child Protection lead trainer
12. Experience of working with children with learning disability
