Job Description

Job Title: Consultant Psychiatrist - CAMHS
Location: HSE - South West
Salary: HSE Consultant Scale
Start Date: As soon as possible

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join a dynamic Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) team at a HSE Hospital. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the delivery of high-quality mental health care to children and adolescents across the service area.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the multidisciplinary CAMHS team in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of children and adolescents with moderate to severe mental health disorders.

Provide direct psychiatric care including outpatient consultations, risk assessments, crisis intervention, and inpatient care where applicable.

Collaborate closely with families, schools, GPs, and community-based services to provide holistic and integrated care.

Engage in clinical governance, service planning, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.

Provide supervision and training to NCHDs (Non-Consultant Hospital Doctors), allied health professionals, and medical students.

Participate in the on-call rota as required by the service.

Requirements

Specialist Registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC) in the Specialist Division - Psychiatry.

Previous experience in CAMHS or Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.

MRCPsych or equivalent postgraduate qualification.

Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

Commitment to patient-centered care and multidisciplinary teamwork.

Desirable
Higher specialist training in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.

Experience in service development and quality improvement.

Interest in teaching or clinical research.
