Job Description
Job Title: Anaesthetic Registrar
Job Type: Full-time, Fixed-Term (6-12 months with possible extension)
Start Date: Jul- 2025
Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Anaesthetic Registrar to join our dynamic and supportive Anaesthesia Department within the Irish public health system. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your clinical expertise in a diverse, multidisciplinary environment with access to a wide range of specialties and advanced technologies.
The post is ideal for doctors with experience in anaesthesia who are looking to gain exposure to high-acuity cases, pursue specialist training, or progress toward fellowship or consultant pathways.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide high-quality anaesthetic care across theatres, intensive care units (ICU), emergency settings, and obstetric services.
Pre-operative assessment and post-operative care in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
Participate in daily operating lists, emergency cover, ICU rounds, and procedural sedation.
Engage in the hospital's on-call rota as per departmental schedule.
Support patient safety initiatives, documentation standards, and adherence to clinical protocols.
Participate in departmental audits, morbidity & mortality meetings, and clinical governance.
Teach and supervise medical students and junior doctors as part of your clinical duties.
Participate in regular simulation training and CPD sessions supported by the department.
Requirements:
Medical Degree and current registration with the Irish Medical Council (General or Trainee Specialist Division).
Minimum of 2 years post-graduate experience, including at least 6-12 months in Anaesthesia.
Valid ALS/BLS certification.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous professional development.
Desirable:
Membership or Part I of relevant postgraduate exams (e.g., FCAI, FRCA, FANZCA).
Previous experience in ICU, pain management, or paediatric anaesthesia.
Intention to apply for a specialist training scheme in Anaesthesia.
