Job Description
Job Title: Staff Grade Speech and Language Therapist (Paediatric)
Location: Dun Laoghaire
Contract Type: Full-time, Specified Purpose Contract (July Start)
Working Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Salary: HSE Aligned Pay Scales (Staff Grade Speech and Language Therapist)
Excel Recruitment is currently seeking a Staff Grade Speech & Language Therapist on behalf of a community based HSE Paediatric multidisciplinary team in South Dublin.
This rewarding role will be based in Dun Laoghaire and involves working closely with a dynamic team of professionals to provide high-quality services to children and their families.
Purpose:
As a Staff Grade Speech & Language Therapist, you will be an integral member of a Paediatric MDT supporting children and young people with a variety of complex needs. Your role will involve assessing, planning, and delivering therapy to support the development of communication, language, and feeding skills, ensuring the best possible outcomes for service users.
This service is designed to support the delivery of a number of interconnected initiatives including working with parents and young people to deliver MDT integrated assessment, formulation and intervention services, supported also by projects focusing on the enhancement of parent education and support resources, delivery of integrated a programme of staff upskilling, clarification of primary care clinical service pathways, integrated database development, integrated routine audit and service evaluation and an area wide model of enhanced multi-disciplinary working.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide assessment, diagnosis, and intervention for children and young people with a wide range of communication and/or feeding difficulties.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, including Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Psychologists, and Social Workers, to deliver holistic care.
- Liaise closely with families, caregivers, and schools to provide consistent support across all environments.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, reports, and documentation in line with HSE standards.
- Participate in regular clinical supervision, team meetings, and continued professional development activities.
- Contribute to service planning and development initiatives as required.
Essential:
- CORU-registered (or registration in process) Speech & Language Therapist.
- Experience working with children and young people in a clinical, educational, or community setting.
- An understanding of and/or experience with complex developmental and communication needs is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and clinical reasoning skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Flexibility and a commitment to person-centred, family-focused care.
- Full clean driving licence and access to own vehicle for community visits (Essential).
