Job Description
Vhi Group Technology have an exciting opportunity for a full-time permanent Front-End Senior Software Engineer to work with cutting edge technologies on their digital transformation program. This role can be based in either Dublin or Kilkenny on a hybrid basis.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will become a core member of the Application Delivery Team working across the full software development lifecycle helping to design and build solutions based on industry best practices and providing expertise to the broader team.
We expect our Senior Software Engineers to be dynamic, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic about taking on new problems across our business as we continue to build great services for our customers.
Role purpose
- Design, code, verify, test, document, amend and refactor complex programs/scripts. Participate in reviews of own work and leads reviews of colleagues' work
- Define and manage scoping, requirements definition and prioritisation activities for initiatives of medium size and complexity.
- Design complex software applications, components and modules. Uses appropriate modelling techniques following agreed software design standards, guidelines, patterns and methodology.
- Design system components using appropriate modelling techniques following agreed architectures, design standards, patterns and methodology.
- Maintain application support processes, and check that all requests for support are dealt with according to agreed procedures.
- Provide advice and guidance to support the adoption of methods and tools and adherence to policies and standards
- Perform routine and non-routine assessments of knowledge, skill, competency or behaviour using specified methods.
- Assist practitioners with creating personal development plans. Advises on suitable development activities such as specific learning or experience to be gained.
- Support assigned co-workers in areas of uncertainty, such as, organisational contacts, communication channels, processes, job expectations and manager relations.
- Monitor quality and performance against agreed criteria to make learning recommendations or to escalate concerns. Coach colleagues in developing target skills and capabilities in line with team and personal goals. Facilitates effective working relationships between team members.
- Deal with problems and issues, managing resolutions, corrective actions, lessons learned, and the collection and dissemination of relevant information. Helps develop and enhance customer and stakeholder relationships.
- Facilitate and support the execution of resourcing activities in collaboration with managers and teams. Conduct interviews and assessments
Education and experience
- BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical field or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years enterprise experience
- 5+ years software development experience covering the full development lifecycle working with business users and IT teams
- Advanced working knowledge and hands on development experience in the technologies, design patterns and architectures required for this role
- Expert knowledge of REACT JS, Node JS, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
- Deep knowledge of modern frameworks associated technologies and development tools.
- Knowledge or experience of Express JS, Vite and VITest would be advantageous.
- Solid understanding of GitOps, AWS, OpenShift, Docker, Kubernetes, and CICD Pipeline processes.
- Experience leading a technical team delivering enterprise grade software, working within agreed target dates and service levels
- Experience working in an agile environment and knowledge of different delivery methadologies such as scrum, kanban and waterfall
- Excellent people and relationship skills with ability to negotiate and influence
- Problem solving with proven track record of achievements and innovation
