A prestigious intellectual disability center in Dublin dedicated to providing high-quality, person-centred care to individuals with intellectual disabilities, promoting independence, dignity, and community inclusion has an opportunity for a Person in Charge.

The PIC will manage assisted Living Services offering a supportive environment where service users can thrive with tailored care plans, engaging activities, and skilled multidisciplinary teams.


Role Overview

The Person in Charge (PIC) / Centre Manager will be responsible for the operational and regulatory management of the assisted living service, ensuring compliance with HIQA (Health Information and Quality Authority) standards and delivering the highest standard of care. This role requires strong leadership, governance, and financial acumen to effectively manage resources, staff, and service user needs.


Key Responsibilities

1. Service Delivery & Service User Well-being

Oversee the provision of person-centred care, ensuring service user's individual needs and preferences are met.
Promote service user independence, dignity, and inclusion within the community.
Develop and implement individual support plans (ISPs) in collaboration with service users, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
Ensure a safe, stimulating, and homely environment for service users with intellectual disabilities.

Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance

Ensure full compliance with HIQA regulations, relevant policies, and statutory requirements.
Lead on HIQA inspections, preparing and implementing action plans where necessary.
Conduct regular audits and quality assurance checks to maintain service excellence.
Maintain up-to-date risk assessments and safety protocols for all aspects of the service.


Leadership & Staff Management

Lead, mentor, and support a team of care and support staff, fostering a culture of excellence.
Ensure staff are trained, competent, and continuously developing in intellectual disability care best practices.
Oversee staff rostering, recruitment, and performance management.
Conduct team meetings and supervision sessions to ensure effective communication and staff engagement.

Financial & Resource Management

Manage the budget and financial planning for the centre, ensuring cost-effective service delivery.
Monitor and control expenditures, ensuring appropriate allocation of resources.
Develop and maintain funding relationships with relevant agencies and stakeholders.

Stakeholder & Family Engagement

Build and maintain positive relationships with service user's families, external agencies, and community organisations.
Ensure effective communication with service users, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
Represent the service in meetings with HSE, social workers, and advocacy groups.

Health & Safety Oversight

Implement and monitor health & safety procedures, ensuring a safe living and working environment.
Ensure staff are trained in safeguarding, manual handling, fire safety, and first aid.
Respond to incidents and implement corrective actions as necessary.




Key Requirements for the role

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

Level 8 degree in Social Care, Disability Studies, or a related field.
3 years of management experience in an intellectual disability, healthcare, or social care setting.
Proven knowledge of HIQA regulations and governance frameworks.
Experience in budget management, staff leadership, and quality assurance.


Desirable Skills & Competencies:

Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
IT proficiency, including experience with care management software.
Full driver's licence.
