Job Description

We currently have a role for a full time Dental Nurse to join an established practice in Dublin . This is a great opportunity to join our team. Recently awarded 'Great Place to Work 2024' and 'Employer of the Year 2023'. At least 1+ years experience is required, qualification is an added advantage.

Summary of Role

The dental nurse is responsible for providing excellent service through the efficient management of patients both at reception and in the surgery. The dental nurse/receptionist will work in close partnership with the dental team, take instruction from the dentist and practice manager, and have the ability to take ownership and responsibility for clinical policies and procedures in the practice .

Tasks and Responsibilities

Dental Nursing

  • Ensuring clinical tests and audits are completed as required on a daily/weekly/monthly basis
  • Working closely with the dentist, providing chair side assistance to ensure the professional, accurate and timely completion of treatments and relevant records as required for patient care
  • Ensure that all tasks are fully compliant with the scope of practice as set out by the Dental Council of Ireland
  • Keep the clinical areas and all equipment and instruments clean, tidy and sterile as appropriate, according to the practice’s health and safety policy, manufacturers’ instructions and the Code of Practice relating to infection control as set out by the Dental Council of Ireland.
  • Ensure that adequate stock levels are maintained for the smooth running of the practice, and inform appointed staff member when stock levels diminish
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times
  • Ensure that any incident relating to patient safety is notified to the Dental Surgeon and is recorded
  • Liaise with reception team to ensure smooth patient communication and transfer of records
  • Work with the practice manager to assist in training new members of the clinical support team as and when required
  • Working with the practice manager in handling and resolving patient complaints, if they arise in line with company guidelines
  • Liaising with the practice manager on any clinical duties
  • Assisting the practice manager to achieve agreed company KPIs
  • Reporting any local facilities issues to the practice manager
  • Assisting with reception duties where required

Reception

- Providing excellence in customer service

- Greeting and registering patients on a day to day basis at the reception desk

- Providing information and reassurance to patients about their treatment

- Handling, recording and resolving patient complaints in line with company guidelines

- Phone and email management throughout the day

- Daily cashing up exercise for the practice

- Appointment book management to ensure maximisation of working hours

· Providing support to clinicians by sending prescriptions, referral letters, x-rays etc

· Performing any local administration tasks such as filing/scanning/lodgements/postage etc.

· Payor claim administration for GMS/PRSI/VHI/DeCare

- Eligibility checking

- Claims and ensuring accuracy of claim forms

- Tracking of claims

- Payment reconciliation

- Running daily, weekly and monthly reports from Exact

- Completion of various spreadsheets for accounts purposes (i.e. cash sheet, trackers etc)

· Key holder duties

· Assisting the practice manager to achieve agreed company KPIs

Qualifications/Experience

Essential

Leaving Certificate or equivalent

Fluent in written and oral English

Must have working knowledge in use of Microsoft Office 2000 or later, particularly Excel and Word, Internet and mail.

Desirable

At least one year as a dental nurse in a patient focused industry

Recognised dental nurse qualification

Familiar with reporting & statistical compilation
