Job Title: Staff Nurse – Endoscopy Unit
Location: Private Hospital
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Reports To: Clinical Nurse Manager
Job Summary
A private hospital is seeking a dedicated Staff Nurse to join its Endoscopy Unit. This role is integral in providing top-quality nursing care, coordinating endoscopic procedures, and supporting the healthcare team in a busy, dynamic environment. The successful candidate will be committed to upholding the highest standards of patient care, collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications
Essential:
Registered on the general division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
Minimum of 3 years of post-registration experience in an acute hospital setting.
Interest in procedural nursing and a commitment to developing new skills.
Proven clinical and professional abilities with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Competent IT skills, with experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Proficiency in English.
Desirable:
Specialty qualification in endoscopy or a related field.
Experience in an endoscopy or high-dependency unit.
Competence in managing clinical and non-clinical scenarios, with strong individual initiative.
Knowledge of risk management from investigation to reporting.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Specific Responsibilities in Endoscopy
Manage and coordinate patient care throughout all stages of endoscopic procedures.
Proficiently perform roles within endoscopy, including assisting in procedures and patient monitoring.
Competent in administering and managing conscious sedation, assessing patients’ conditions using scoring systems, and responding to unexpected patient deterioration.
Skilled in cleaning and decontamination of endoscopic equipment, medication management, and sample handling.
Educates patients and families, ensures smooth patient handovers, and adheres to infection control protocols.
Accountability and Reporting
Professionally accountable to the Director of Nursing and reports directly to the Clinical Nurse Manager.
Expected to support nursing colleagues and assist in quality nursing care delivery without direct supervision.
