Staff Nurse (Band 5), Older Adult Mental Health
Grade: Band 5 £36,899 - £42,779 BAR £43,954 - £47,590 per annum.

The services for older people are looking to recruit registered nurses who have a passion for working with older people. You will be working in one of our units dedicated to dementia care where high standards of person-centred care are essential. With our client’s recently launched Island wide Dementia Framework they are striving to make Guernsey Dementia Friendly so that the older population feel valued and are treated with the dignity and respect that they so rightly deserve.
Guernsey HSSD have a comprehensive service for Older People experiencing dementia. There are four in-patient centres (including an assessment ward through to the later stages of an individual’s experience of dementia) as well as Day Services. Within the Community the team consists of one team leader, one clinical nurse specialist, four community psychiatric nurses, one occupational therapists and two community support workers.
This team also carries out a memory clinic service undertaking specialist testing leading to possible diagnosis.

Requirements:
ESSENTIAL:
· Degree/Diploma in related field, RGN - Registered General, or RMN - Mental Health Nurse
· Be able to work in a confident and calm manner but seek guidance when appropriate.
· To have a good understanding of the English language both verbal and written.
· Have clear concise communication skills.
· Able to work under pressure and deal with challenging situations calmly.
· Able to lead and assist in the development of more junior members of staff.
· Caring and empathetic.
· Willing to go that extra mile.
· Have a sense of fun.
· Be creative.
· There is a requirement for significant physical effort in this role therefore a good standard of fitness is required to assist service users with their activities of daily living.
DESIRABLE:
· Previous experience of working with older people
Note;
· Our client offers a full relocation package which includes interview and relocation travel, this is in addition to their competitive pay (better than the UK) and annual bonus and additional bonus scheme of £3,000, payable after two- and four-years’ service.
· Furthermore, our client offers subsidised accommodation for those travelling to the Island alone, and an 8-year employment permit for those wishing to bring a partner or family.
