Job Description

Midwife (Band 6), Guernsey

 

Grade: Band 6 £43,954 - £52,932 BAR £54,643 - £59,343 per annum.

Full Time

 

The States of Guernsey are looking to appoint a Band 6 Midwife, within Hospital Services. They will be directly responsible for the provision of midwifery care to mothers and their families, both in the hospital and community setting within a consultant led, team midwifery system of care, with a significant emphasis on multi-disciplinary working. The post holder will ensure accurate and contemporaneous records are kept of all care, information and advice given, of visits made and of the progress of each woman, reporting any deviations from the norm to the ward manager, obstetrician or registered medical practitioner.

Selection Criteria: 

Essential

·      Registered Midwife with valid NMC registration

·      Diploma in Midwifery Studies

·      Completed preceptorship programme.

·      Experience of practicing midwifery in a full range of clinical settings

·      Evidence of contributing to midwifery practice or education and training

·      Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

·      Ability to prioritise workload and work under pressure.

·      Presentation skills

·      Computer literacy

·      Articulate and knowledgeable in current midwifery issues

·      Displays an understanding of the change management process.

·      Knowledge of clinical governance and risk management

·      Effective team worker

·      Enthusiastic and motivated

·      Car driver

·      Equality and diversity awareness

·      Assertive and innovative

·      Suitability to work with children and vulnerable adults.

Desirable  

·      Degree in Midwifery Studies

·      Development of a community role

·      Experience in guideline and policy development

·      Examination of the Newborn (NIPE) qualification

·      Experience of producing reports and presenting findings to the multi-disciplinary team
