Job Description

Cpl Healthcare are currently looking to recruit an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist in Oncology services  for a private clinic in South Dublin.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will provide a professional nursing service to meet the needs of the patients who are referred to the breast care service. The CNS will deliver specialist nursing care in line with the five core concepts of the Clinical Nurse Specialist role outlined in The Framework for The Establishment of CNS posts, National Council for the Professional Development of Nursing and Midwifery(NCNM,2008)

The CNS carries out a central role in the assessment, counselling, surveillance and support of patients with malignant, benign and family risk of breast cancer

 

Skills & Experience Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse/Midwife with current NMBI registration to practice.
  • Higher Diploma in Oncology Nursing (Breast care) preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of post-registration with 2 year experience within Oncology and ideally breast care services.
  • Evidence of an ability to critically appraise and utilise research to maintain and improve patient care.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills –Must be fluent in English.
  • Ability to build good relationships with patients, relatives, visitors and colleagues by developing rapport, communicating clearly and accurately, active listening and the ability to empathise. The post-holder must have the ability to refer to senior staff as required.
  • Ability to recognise and diffuse potentially difficult situations in relation to patients, carers or members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Organisational skills for co-ordination and provision of care needs of patients using initiative, time management, leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to provide verbal and generate and computer written reports on the patient’s condition for nurses and professionally qualified workers.
  • Demonstrate teaching and presentation skills to enable active participation as a mentor for students and to promote an effective learning environment.
