Job Description

Job Summary:

As the Director of Nursing, you will uphold a high standard of daily care and activities, adhering to best practices within available resources. Your daily responsibilities will encompass planning, development, and management.

Requirements:

To qualify for this role, you must hold a Third Level Degree in Nursing, be actively registered with NMBI, and possess a Third Level Healthcare Management qualification. Additionally, a minimum of 3 years of experience in working with older people within the last six years of your career is essential. You should be an experienced people manager of good character, enjoy challenges, and take pride in achieving results.

We currently have multiple Director of Nursing roles available throughout Ireland. This presents an opportunity for nurses with prior experience as DON, ADON, CNM, or in senior roles to take the next step and, with support, manage a nursing home to exceptional standards.

Qualifications:

Registered on the Live Register in the General Division of the Register of Nurses as maintained by the NMBI.

Elderly Care Qualification.

Management Qualification.

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of elderly care experience, with 3 years at the management level.

Knowledge of the Nursing Home Industry.

Understanding of the National Standards for Residential Care Settings for Older People.

Wide general nursing experience and proven leadership qualities.

Experience/qualification in Gerontology.

Evidence of consistent updating of clinical skills and knowledge.

Demonstrable coaching & development skills within clinical practice.

Competent and confident IT skills.

Experience working with or knowledge of caring for people with dementia.

Lead and motivate staff.

Anticipate staffing needs within departments.

Enjoy working within a team.

Clarify individual roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities.

Leadership:

Embrace organizational change and initiatives.

Convincingly communicate the benefits of change to others.

Show strong initiative; work outside standard protocol when necessary.

Bring new ideas/initiatives to fruition.

Problem Solving & Decision Making:

Act quickly to address urgent matters.

Demonstrate lateral thinking to generate non-obvious solutions.

Grasp how decisions might affect others.

Resource Management:

Contribute to the effective management of the company’s resources (hours: dependency: occupancy).

Planning & Organizing:

Ensure the most effective allocation and use of resources.

Anticipate and take preventative action on problems and issues.

Multi-task without losing focus.

Manage competing and changing priorities.
