Job Description
Clinical Specialist Dietitian, Gastroenterology – Acute Hospital, South Dublin, Ireland
Cpl Healthcare in partnership with Tallaght University Hospital (TU) are currently recruiting for a Clinical Specialist to lead the Gastroenterology service.
Purpose of the role:
The Clinical Specialist will co-ordinate and further develop the Dietetic Gastroenterology Services at TUH with specific responsibility for the Functional Gastrointestinal Disorder (FGID) service, also known at the Disorders of Gut Brain Interaction (DGBI) service, at TUH.
Summary of main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Co-ordinate the FGID dietetic service at TUH, which includes one to one consultations and group therapy sessions for patients with IBS and other DGBIs such as functional dyspepsia, centrally mediated abdominal pain syndrome.
- Co-ordinate the inpatient service, on collaboration with the senior gastroenterology Dietitian and provide cover as required, which will also ensure maintenance and enhancement of his/her skills and knowledge in all aspects of gastroenterology

Candidates interested in the role must have:
- A recognised qualification as a Dietitian and professional registration in your country of practice
- Eligible to apply for registration as a Dietitian with CORU ( Applyru.ie), the Health & Social Care Professionals regulatory authority in Ireland
- At least five years full time (or equivalent) post qualification dietetic experience, at least 3 of which must be working continuously in Gastroenterology, where there was responsibility for managing patients with FGID’s/DGBIs
Desirable:
- Completion of post-graduate training in low FODMAP diet management of IBS is essential
- A post graduate qualification in Dietetics relating to Gastroenterology
- Membership of the Irish Nutrition & Dietetic Institute (INDI) and participation in the Gastroenterology special interest group
