Peamount Healthcare is an independent voluntary organisation that provides a range of high-quality health and social care services. We help people return home after a serious illness, we provide safe and homely residential care for those who need it, and we support people to live as independently as possible in the community.



Rheumatology is a new Consultant led service to Peamount Healthcare, this service included 10 inpatient beds and an outpatient clinic including an infusion suite. The Rheumatology services consists of a Multidisciplinary team approach which includes a CNS in Rheumatology.



Specific Clinical Area:

Rheumatology is the medical speciality caring for patients with musculoskeletal disease. The service is a consultant led service that provides expert outpatient and inpatient services in the diagnosis, treatment, management and Rehabilitation of patients.

Purpose of Post

The post of CNM 2 has a pivotal role in service planning, co-ordinating, and managing activity and resources within the clinical area. The main responsibilities are: quality assurance, resource management, staff development, practice development, facilitating communication and professional / clinical leadership, patient education and support in Chronic disease management.



The CNM 2 in Rheumatology will be part of a Multidisciplinary Team within the Peamount Healthcare, responsible for the overall care of patients with Rheumatologic complaints and musculoskeletal conditions. He/she will demonstrate a caring competent manner to instil patient confidence and contribute to an environment that is centred on the needs of Rheumatology patients. They will demonstrate an ability to interpret and promote evidence based practice within the field of Rheumatology, as this is an area of Nursing which is rapidly changing.



Eligibility Criteria Qualifications & Experience

Professional Qualifications and Experience

(a) Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition:

(i) Are registered in the General division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann) or entitled to be so registered.

(ii) A minimum of two years experience working in a Rheumatology department at CNM1 level.



Annual registration


Each candidate and every person holding the office must be registered in the general division of the register of nurses maintained by NMBI (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland)
Have at Least 5 years post resignation experience of which 2 must be in Rheumatology.
Evidence of consistent updating of clinical skills and knowledge.


Desirabl

Previous Management experience and a recognised qualification in management

Competent and confidential IT skills - Word, Excel. Power Point and e-mail
Demonstrate Coaching & Development skills within clinical practice.


General

To adhere to policies at all times.
To perform such other duties appropriate to the post as may be assigned from time to time by the Manager or a nominee.


Self Development

To be aware of current developments and issues in healthcare by reading current literature and keeping abreast of new developments, attending 'in-house' seminars, lectures and courses when possible and as appropriate in consultation with your head of Department.

To maintain own competence in all areas of role.
To ensure a safe environment for himself/herself, colleagues and visitors.
