JOB SUMMARY
As one of the Clinical Safety Officers, you’ll be a fundamental part of the business, ensuring that correct implement and maintain clinical safety processes across the business. Patient safety is the number one priority and this position is vital in making sure this is achieved and maintained.
 
Key duties and responsibilities
  • You will have two main roles involving risk management and incident management and a third participatory role related to your professional background in strategic discussions.
  • You’ll work alongside a variety of business areas, ensuring new software updates and releases are clinically safe as well playing an integral part in the development of new functionality. As well as planning for releases, you’ll quickly react to new incidents as they come in. To be successful in the role, you’ll build a strong and wide-reaching network with colleagues.
  • You will be joining an existing Clinical Safety Officer from a medical background which reports into our Senior Clinical Director, (currently Chief Medical Officer who is also a Clinical Safety Officer).
  • As the opportunity is all about promoting a culture of clinical safety you will work across the wider business, so you’ll need to be a strong communicator and team player.
 
Requirements:
As a subject matter expert, you will:
  • Maintain the Clinical Risk Management artefacts for the busines products assigned to you in a comprehensive and up-to-date manner and escalate unresolved issues for resolution or mitigation.
  • Contribute to clinical incident management such that such issues are resolved as soon as possible, and governance documentation is complete both for internal and possibly external scrutiny.
  • Contribute to the strategic agenda as requested in alignment with your specific professional background and broader clinical experience.

Person Specification
  • These are the skills and experience you’ll need to set yourself up for success for this role. However, we’d still love to talk to you even if you don’t tick all of them:
  • You will need to be a clinician (for example, a nurse, pharmacist, physiotherapist or allied health professional) and have a current registration with a professional governing body, which you will maintain whilst in this role.
  • You’ll have knowledge of different care settings and a background / experience in risk management.
  • Primary and secondary healthcare experience as well as risk experience
  • Knowledge of Clinical Safety or Health IT would be an advantage.
  • You will need to be a strong self-starter and have the ability to learn at pace.
