Role Purpose

The Team Leader will support the Person in Charge in the effective delivery of high-quality social care services within the community. The successful candidate will provide leadership and guidance to staff teams, ensuring that residents are supported to live meaningful, self-directed lives in line with organisational values, HIQA standards, and best practice.

The Team Leader will promote a culture of respect, dignity, inclusion, and person-centred practice while ensuring the safe and effective operation of the service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support staff teams in the day-to-day operation of residential and/or day services.
  • Promote person-centred approaches that maximise independence, choice, and community participation.
  • Ensure services are delivered in accordance with HIQA standards, national policies, and organisational procedures.
  • Support the development and implementation of individual support plans and personal outcomes.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and inclusive team environment.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support staff members to ensure high standards of care and professional practice.
  • Assist with staff rostering, supervision, training, and performance management.
  • Promote continuous learning and professional development within the team.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding procedures and health & safety requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation in line with organisational and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support effective risk management practices within the service.
  • Build positive working relationships with residents, families, multidisciplinary teams, and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in meetings and contribute to service planning and development.
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders in a professional and respectful manner.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a minimum of a Level 7 qualification on the QQI Framework - BA in Social Care Studies or equivalent qualification in Health or Social Care.
  • Have at least 2 years' management experience at a similar level of responsibility.
  • Have a minimum of 3 years' experience working with vulnerable adults or adults with intellectual disabilities.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of current policy and developments at national and sectoral level in relation to Social Care within disability services.
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Be proficient in IT skills relevant to the role, including Microsoft Office Excel, Word, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams.
  • Hold a full clean driver's licence.
