Role Overview
The Staff Nurse in the Cath Lab provides specialist nursing care to patients undergoing cardiac procedures. You will support procedures, monitor patients, and work closely with the cardiology team to ensure safe, high-quality care before, during, and after interventions.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to cardiology patients
- Assist in cardiac procedures as:
- Scrub nurse
- Circulating nurse
- Recovery nurse
- Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures
- Provide patient education pre- and post-procedure
Patient Care & Communication
- Support patients and families with clear communication and reassurance
- Work closely with cardiologists and the wider multidisciplinary team
- Maintain patient dignity, safety, and confidentiality
Medication & Safety
- Administer medications safely in line with guidelines
- Maintain accurate controlled drug records
- Ensure compliance with NMBI and hospital policies
- Maintain up-to-date BLS and ACLS certification
Operations & Teamwork
- Maintain accurate patient documentation
- Use equipment safely and efficiently
- Support junior staff and contribute to team development
- Take charge of the unit when required
Quality & Risk Management
- Report incidents, risks, and near misses
- Participate in audits and continuous improvement initiatives
- Follow all clinical governance and safety standards
Requirements
Essential
- Registered General Nurse with NMBI
- Minimum 1 year Cath Lab nursing experience
- Up-to-date Basic Life Support (BLS) (ACLS preferred or required)

- Strong clinical and technical skills in cardiology
- Good leadership and teamwork ability
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- IT and documentation skills
- Awareness of quality improvement and risk management
