Specified Purpose Contract – 6 months Senior Speech and Language Therapist

Salary Scale DOE: €63,912-€75,254

The Role

In line with the HSE National Programme for Progressing Disability Services, KARE is also the Lead Agency for the provision of supports across South Kildare West Wicklow for children presenting with complex needs. We are actively looking for a Snr SLT to actively deliver on the Assessment of Need (AON) The successful candidate will join an established interdisciplinary Children’s Disability Network Team for children and young people aged 0-18 years, who present with complex needs within an interdisciplinary framework.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Plan a schedule of assessments to meet the demand in collaboration with colleagues.
• Understands the importance of time management for themselves and in particular how this translates to organising their assigned caseload.
• Demonstrate clinical reasoning skills and decision making.
• Deals with unexpected scenarios with persistence and flexibility to ensure the achievement of goals.
• Maintains a disciplined and professional level of performance under sustained or situational pressure.
• Demonstrates sufficient clinical skills in assessment intervention and diagnostics to meet the specific needs of the relevant caseload.
• Collaborate with the service user while working in partnership with their family /carers and all other relevant stakeholders in the assessment process.
• Ensures strict compliance with health and safety standards and adheres to operational guidelines ensuring equipment is checked and is working correctly in accordance with safety standards.

Requirements

• A degree in Speech and Language Therapy
• Three (3) years post qualification experience (Experience working with children/young people is desirable)
• Be registered with CORU
