Excel Recruitment is delighted to recruit a Senior Speech and Language Therapist for a supportive Adult Primary Care service based in Ballinteer and/or Irishtown.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist who enjoys clinically meaningful community-based work with adults presenting with conditions such as dementia, Parkinson's disease, motor neurone disease and other complex neurological or age-related presentations.
The successful candidate will join a well connected service with strong access to professional collaboration and peer support. There is currently one Staff Grade Speech and Language Therapist within the adult team, and the adult therapists link closely with Adult SLT colleagues in neighbouring areas through regular meetings and shared clinical support.
The role also sits within the wider Primary Care Speech and Language Therapy team in Dublin South East, which includes Paediatric SLT, Adult SLT, the Stroke Rehabilitation Team and Language Classes.
About the Role
The successful candidate will provide high-quality, evidence-based assessment, diagnosis and intervention for adults with a broad range of speech, language, communication and swallowing needs.
The caseload will include adults with dementia, Parkinson's disease, motor neurone disease, acquired neurological conditions, frailty and other complex presentations. Services are delivered across clinic, domiciliary and wider community settings.
As the Senior Speech and Language Therapist, you will manage a varied senior-level caseload while working collaboratively with the Staff Grade SLT and neighbouring Adult SLT teams. You will also work as part of the wider Primary Care multidisciplinary team, linking closely with Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Public Health Nursing, Dietetics and other community-based professionals to support coordinated, person-centred care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver a high-quality Senior SLT service across adult communication and dysphagia caseloads.
- Assess, diagnose and support adults presenting with dementia, Parkinson's disease, motor neurone disease, acquired neurological conditions and other complex communication or swallowing needs.
- Provide assessment, intervention and care planning across clinics, clients' homes and wider community settings.
- Manage a varied senior-level caseload independently, using strong clinical reasoning and evidence-informed practice.
- Work closely with the Staff Grade SLT and participate in regular meetings and peer support with Adult SLTs in neighbouring areas.
- Collaborate with the wider Dublin South East Primary Care SLT team and multidisciplinary colleagues, including Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Public Health Nursing and Dietetics, while contributing to dysphagia management, service development and quality improvement.
Requirements:
- CORU registration, or registration in process, as a Speech and Language Therapist.
- Experience supporting adults with complex communication and swallowing needs, including presentations such as dementia, Parkinson's disease and motor neurone disease
- A dysphagia qualification or equivalent, in line with IASLT standards.
- Minimum of three years' post-qualification experience, with the ability to work independently at Senior Grade level.
- The confidence to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative SLT and multidisciplinary team, with a practical, person-centred approach and a genuine interest in adult primary care and community-based rehabilitation.
- Full clean driving licence and access to your own vehicle for community visits.
If you are an experienced Senior Speech and Language Therapist seeking a varied community role with excellent professional links, regular peer support and access to a wider specialist SLT and multidisciplinary network, I would love to speak with you.
