We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Senior Occupational Therapist to join a friendly Children's Disability Network Team in Longford.

Excel Healthcare are recruiting a Senior Occupational Therapist to join a well supported multidisciplinary team in Longford.

The team is supported by 2 Senior Occupational Therapist and 1 Occupational Therapy Assistant. This team is progressive, innovative, and committed to high quality care. Having won the CEO service user access award in 2025 for our Sitwell pathway.

This position offers the best of both worlds: the security of a full-time agency contract with the potential to progress to a permanent HSE role, all while working within a large, multidisciplinary team under strong clinical leadership.

The successful Occupational Therapist will work with children (0-18 years) with physical, sensory, and learning disabilities, autism, developmental delay. You will be part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team of Occupational Therapists, Speech & Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Social Workers and Psychologists. You will have regular training, CPD, supervision and career development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, and review of occupational therapy intervention programmes for children supported by the Children's Disability Network Team.
  • This is needs-based and focussed on achieving outcomes that are defined and prioritised by the child and their family through the Individual Family Service Plan meeting.
  • Attend and participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to ensure integrated goal setting and support for children and their families.
  • Prioritise caseload based on clinical needs of the child and as agreed with the family through an IFSP (Individual Family Service Plan).
  • Document all assessments, intervention plans, progress notes, and reports in accordance with professional standards
  • Arrange and carry out duties in a timely manner within settings appropriate to service users and in line with service policy/guidelines
  • Maintain quality standards of practice and participate in quality assurance and clinical audit as appropriate
  • Become familiar with and work in accordance with relevant HSE policies, HIQA standards, Progressing Disabilities, legislation and professional policies, guidelines, and requirements to ensure safe practice and high standards of service delivery.
  • Promote a culture that values equality, diversity, and respect in the workplace.
  • Become familiar with the key National policy documents for children disability services such as the National Access policy, National policy on prioritization of referral among others.
  • Work in accordance with relevant HSE policies, Assessment of Need SOP, HIQA standards, and professional policies, guidelines and requirements to ensure safe practice and high standards of service delivery.

Essential Requirements

  • BSc in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent recognised qualification)
  • CORU registration as an Occupational Therapist
  • Minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience.
  • Membership (or eligibility) of the Irish Association of Occupational Therapists (IAOT)
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
