Job Title: Occupational Therapist- Community Mental Health
Location: Knockrobin primary care centre, Wicklow.
Contract Type: 3 month agency contract (Full-Time, 35 hours per week)

Excel Recruitment are recruiting a compassionate, dedicated and experienced Occupational Therapist on behalf of a HSE Community Mental Health team in Wicklow.
The Adult Occupational Therapy Service provide services to the following clinical areas:
- Community Mental Health Teams
- Community Rehabilitation Teams
- Psychiatry of Later Life Teams
- Approved centre Psychiatry of later life service
- Approved centres - acute units
- Mental Health Intellectual Disability
- Eating Disorder
The Occupational Therapy service currently consists of an Occupational Therapy Manager, Senior and Staff Grade Occupational Therapists as well as Occupational Therapy Assistants working across the mental health services.
The post holder will work within a multidisciplinary team and provide Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention to service users within a designated clinical and geographical area.
There will be support from a busy Occupational Therapy department with a wide range of experience and knowledge across general adult and speciality mental health services located in Dublin South East and Wicklow catchment areas.
Supervisory Structure:
The staff grade Occupational Therapist - Mental Health will be supervised by a Senior Occupational Therapist and may have supervisory responsibility for and OT Assistant
Key Responsibilities:
- Be responsible for assessment, planning, implementation and review of treatment / intervention programmes for service users according to service standards.
- Manage own caseload in accordance with the needs of the post.
- Collaborate with service users, family, carers and other staff in treatment / intervention planning and in the provision of support and advice.
- Plan discharge or transition of the service user between services as appropriate.
- Document all assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, reports and discharge summaries in accordance with local service and professional standards.
- Communicate verbally and / or in writing results of assessments, treatment / intervention programmes and recommendations to the team and relevant others in accordance with service policy.
- Participate in teams, communicating and working in co-operation with other team members.
- Attend clinics, review meetings, team meetings, case conferences, ward rounds etc. as designated by Senior Occupational Therapist / Occupational Therapist Manager.
- Arrange and carry out duties in a timely manner within settings appropriate to service users' needs and in line with local policy / guidelines.
- Maintain quality standards of practice and participate in quality assurance and clinical audit as appropriate.
- Seek advice and assistance from his / her supervisor / manager with any assigned cases or issues that prove to be beyond the scope of his / her professional competence in line with principles of best practice and clinical governance.
- Maintain professional standards in relation to confidentiality, ethics and legislation.
- Operate within the scope of Occupational Therapy practice as per CORU requirements and in accordance with local guidelines.
Essential Requirements:
- BSc or MSc in Occupational Therapy
- CORU registration as an Occupational Therapist.
- Previous experience in mental health essential
- A collaborative, recovery-oriented, and person-centred approach.
- Excellent clinical reasoning, communication, and documentation skills.
- HSE mandatory training (or willingness to complete before starting).
- Full drivers License

- €44,000 - €45,000 per year
