Contract Type: Full-time Agency Contract (35 hours per week)
Salary: HSE Senior Occupational Therapist Pay Scale (commensurate with experience)
Excel Recruitment is currently recruiting a Senior Occupational Therapist to join a well-established Adult Disability Team in Longford / Mullingar.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist with a passion for adult physical and sensory disability, including conditions such as Motor Neurone Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, neurological conditions, and complex physical disabilities.

About the Role
As a Senior Occupational Therapist within Adult Disability Services, you will work with adults who have physical, sensory, and neurological disabilities, supporting independence, participation, and quality of life across home and community settings.
You will play a key role in clinical leadership, service development, and the supervision of junior staff, while delivering high-quality, evidence-based occupational therapy interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete comprehensive occupational therapy assessments for adults with physical, sensory, and neurological disabilities
- Manage a complex caseload including MS, Motor Neurone Disease, acquired neurological conditions, and long-term disability
- Develop and implement individualised intervention plans focusing on functional independence, mobility, seating, housing, and assistive technology
- Provide specialist OT input across ADLs, fatigue management, upper limb function, and environmental adaptations
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team including physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, nursing, and medical staff
- Offer clinical supervision and mentorship to junior Occupational Therapists and therapy assistants
- Contribute to service planning, quality improvement, and best practice within Adult Disability Services
Essential Requirements
- CORU registration as an Occupational Therapist
- Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience, with at least 1 year in Adult Disability, Physical Disability, or Neurology
- Strong experience working with physical and sensory disabilities
- Excellent communication, clinical reasoning, and report-writing skills
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff (desirable for Senior grade)
- Full clean driver's licence and access to a car (essential for community work)
