Excel Recruitment is delighted to partner with Adult Primary Care services to recruit a Senior Clinical or Counselling Psychologist for an immediate start within a well-supported community-based team.
This role is ideally suited to a Senior Psychologist with essential experience supporting adults presenting with mental health difficulties, ideally within a primary care, community, or adult mental health setting.
About the Role
As a Senior Clinical or Counselling Psychologist, you will provide specialist assessment, formulation and evidence-based intervention to adults presenting with a range of mental health needs, including:
- Anxiety, low mood and depression
- Trauma-related presentations
- Adjustment difficulties and stress-related concerns
- Complex psychosocial and emotional presentations
You will work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team, supporting timely access to psychological input, contributing to care planning and bringing senior clinical insight to complex adult presentations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist psychological assessment, formulation and intervention for adults within a Primary Care setting
- Manage complex adult mental health presentations using evidence-based psychological approaches
- Develop person-centred care plans in collaboration with service users and the wider MDT
- Deliver individual and group interventions tailored to presenting needs
- Provide consultation, guidance and clinical leadership within the team
- Support supervision, mentoring and professional development where required
- Contribute to service development, quality improvement and best-practice initiatives
Eligibility Criteria
- Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology, or equivalent qualification
- Chartered membership or eligibility with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI)
- Eligibility to work within the Irish public health system; validation required for overseas candidates
- Min 5 years post graduate experience
- Strong skills in assessment, formulation, risk awareness and therapeutic intervention
- Previous experience in adult mental health or Adult Primary Care or community mental health experience is highly desirable
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
- Full clean driver's licence and access to a car
