Senior Clinical Psychologist - Child Primary Care

Locations: Dublin North County, North City & North West Contract: Full-Time, HSE Contract (35 hours/week)
Salary: HSE Senior Psychologist Pay Scale

Excel Recruitment is delighted to partner with Child Primary Care Teams across Dublin North to recruit Senior Psychologists for a number of well-supported and progressive services.

These roles offer flexibility in base location across North Dublin, (Coolock, Kilbarrack, Portmarnock, Swords & Balbriggan) allowing you to work within a community that suits you, while being part of dynamic, forward-thinking teams focused on early intervention and prevention.

About the Role

As a Senior Psychologist, you will play a key leadership and clinical role, supporting children and families presenting with a wide range of emotional, behavioural, and developmental needs, including:

  • Autism Spectrum Conditions ADHD
  • Anxiety and mood-related difficulties
  • Attachment and family-related challenges
  • School-related and social difficulties

You will have the opportunity to lead on complex cases, guide junior colleagues, and contribute to service innovation, ensuring high-quality, child-centred care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist psychological assessment, formulation, and intervention for children and young people
  • Lead on complex and high-risk cases, offering clinical expertise and guidance to the wider MDT
  • Develop and implement evidence-based, child-centred care plans in collaboration with families and professionals
  • Deliver individual and group interventions, tailored to presenting needs
  • Provide clinical supervision and mentoring to junior psychologists and team members
  • Offer consultation to parents, carers, educators, and healthcare professionals
  • Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and innovation initiatives
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and best practice

Eligibility Criteria

  • Doctorate in Clinical, Counselling or Educational Psychology (or equivalent)
  • Chartered membership or eligibility with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI)
  • Eligibility to work within the Irish public health system (validation required for overseas candidates)
  • Significant experience working with children and families, including complex presentations
  • Strong skills in clinical assessment, formulation, and therapeutic intervention
  • Experience providing clinical supervision or leadership (desirable)
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
  • Full clean driver's licence and access to a car
