Excel Recruitment is delighted to partner with Dublin South Psychology Services to recruit an experienced and motivated Senior Psychologist to join its Child and Adolescent Primary Care Service. We are seeking a compassionate and skilled professional who is committed to high‑quality, evidence‑based care for children, young people, and families within a collaborative and dynamic environment.

This post forms part of a broader waiting list initiative, with a particular focus on leading service responses for those waiting longest for assessment and intervention. The successful candidate will provide advanced clinical leadership, oversee complex assessments, and support the development and delivery of high‑quality therapeutic pathways across the service.

About the Service

The Dublin South Psychology Service is an innovative, growing team made up of Senior, Staff Grade, Trainee and Assistant Psychologists. The service delivers support across mild-moderate mental health needs and developmental concerns, including emotional, behavioural, social, neurodevelopmental and relational/attachment‑based presentations.

Working within a layered care model, the service provides:

  • Individual and group interventions
  • Specialist consultation appointments
  • Universal and targeted psychoeducation
  • Teen and Parent Advice Clinics
  • Interdisciplinary work for complex presentations

Supervision is provided by the Principal Psychologist Manager, with Senior Psychologists offering supervision to Staff Grade and Assistant Psychologists.

Team & Collaboration

You will be a senior member of a Primary Care MDT including Psychology, Speech & Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Social Work and a Project Coordinator. Senior Psychologists play a key leadership role in:

  • Integrated assessments
  • Shared formulation and clinical decision making
  • Complex case management
  • Service development and evaluation initiatives

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver specialist psychological assessment and intervention for complex emotional, behavioural and developmental presentations.
  • Provide expert consultation, guidance and clinical formulation to families, schools, and multidisciplinary colleagues.
  • Develop and oversee evidence‑based, child‑centred care pathways across the primary care psychology service.
  • Deliver and supervise group work, psychoeducation programmes, and interdisciplinary clinics.
  • Provide clinical supervision to Staff Grade, Assistant and Trainee Psychologists.
  • Contribute to and lead aspects of service development, audit, quality improvement and evaluation.
  • Support the development of clinical policies, protocols and best‑practice guidelines.
  • Represent psychology within MDT meetings and interagency forums as required.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Doctorate (or equivalent) in Clinical, Counselling or Educational Psychology or PSI‑chartered status.
  • DOH validation for overseas qualifications (if applicable).
  • Eligibility for PSI registration as a Senior Psychologist.
  • Significant experience working with children, young people, and families, including complex and multidisciplinary casework.
  • Demonstrated expertise in psychological assessment, formulation, intervention planning and service development.
  • Experience supervising psychology staff.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously while contributing to a broader MDT.
  • Full driving licence and access to a car.
