We are seeking applications for a Consultant Paediatric Neurologist to join the paediatric neurology service in Limerick.
About the Role:
This position involves managing patients with acute and chronic neurological conditions, improving clinic waiting times, and participating in inpatient neurology care and on-call duties. The role also provides support to paediatric colleagues in Limerick and across the region seeking expert advice on neurological disorders. There is scope to develop a special clinical interest within this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality clinical care for paediatric patients with acute and chronic neurological conditions.
Participate in inpatient management and the neurology on-call rota.
Advise and support paediatric colleagues on complex neurological cases.
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders to enhance patient care.
Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives.
Essential Criteria:
Eligable for registration as a specialist in Paediatrics on the Specialist Division under the Irish Medical Council
Minimum of two years' postgraduate training and experience in paediatric neurology.
Desirable Criteria:
Clinical fellowship in Paediatric Neurology, nationally or internationally.
Skills, Competencies & Knowledge:
Extensive clinical experience in acute and chronic paediatric neurology care.
Credible clinician with leadership and team management skills.
Strong evidence-based decision-making abilities.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Experience in service development, reconfiguring acute services, and working in complex environments.
Knowledge of the Irish health sector, national health programmes, and health reform agendas.
Proficiency in hospital data and information systems.
Effective change management, negotiation, and organisational skills.
