Occupational Therapy Manager – Irish Prison Service, Dublin

The Occupational Therapy Service at the Irish Prison Service is a recently established national service.

A locum vacancy has arisen to cover maternity leave for an initial period of 6 months.

Working as part of a broad multi-disciplinary teams (MDT) across Cloverhill and Mountjoy prisons, as the Occupational Therapy Manager, you will be responsible for leading and delivering an occupational therapy service.

The service provides a bio-psycho-social, integrated, layered model of care as well as being strengths-based, recovery focused and balances this with the principles of Risk, Need and Responsivity (RNR).

The service accepts referrals for a broad range of mental health needs and provides individualised, evidence-based assessment and interventions with clients, which with excellent Continuing Professional Development opportunities.

The role will include, but is not limited to, holding and managing a clinical caseload, working alongside local prison services to deliver the highest quality intervention and will offer appropriate supervision and Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Essential Qualifications and Competencies

Candidates must:

· Hold a recognised qualification as an Occupational Therapist along with CORU registration.

· A minimum of 5 years full time (or an aggregate of 5 years full time) post qualification clinical experience in a High Support / Dependency Unit in an acute setting (forensic or otherwise) or in secure settings (prison or hospital);

· Have experience of carrying out audits and collecting outcomes to support service, design, development and delivery.

· Experience of working with clients reflecting a wide range of clinical presentations with mental health needs and/or offence related needs.

· Experience of completing detailed Occupational Therapy assessment, case formulation, risk management, intervention and evaluation in mental health role/setting.

· Experience of/training in delivering evidence informed mental health interventions.

· Capacity to work cooperatively as part of the Occupational Therapy team and other services.

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

· Proficient computer skills

· Permission to work in Ireland
