Medical Registrar - Locum (Non‑Contract)

We are currently recruiting Medical Registrars for locum, non‑contract roles across HSE hospitals nationwide. These roles provide flexible short‑, medium‑, and longer‑term cover within acute medical services, including day, night, and weekend shifts.

As a Tier 1 HSE agency, we work directly with hospital groups across Ireland, giving early access to both urgent and planned Medical Registrar locum requirements.

Role Overview

The Medical Registrar will play a key role in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of acutely unwell medical patients, working closely with Consultants, SHOs, nursing staff, and allied health professionals. The role requires independent clinical decision‑making, appropriate escalation, and leadership within the medical team.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and manage acute medical admissions and inpatients
• Lead the initial assessment and ongoing management of complex medical patients
• Perform and interpret investigations including blood tests, imaging, ECGs, and ABGs
• Initiate evidence‑based treatment plans in line with HSE and hospital guidelines
• Supervise and support SHOs, providing clinical guidance and escalation support
• Participate in consultant‑led ward rounds and multidisciplinary team meetings
• Respond to medical emergencies, including deteriorating patients and cardiac arrests
• Ensure accurate, timely clinical documentation and discharge planning
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the wider MDT
• Participate in handovers and contribute to safe continuity of care
• Maintain high standards of patient safety and clinical governance

Essential Requirements

• IMC Registration
• Experience working at Medical Registrar level in Irish acute medical settings
• Ability to manage acute medical patients independently
• Strong clinical judgement, prioritisation, and leadership skills
• Flexibility to cover ad‑hoc, short‑notice, or out‑of‑hours shifts
• Practical certification in Patient moving and handling & BLS.
• ALS certification
