Overall Purpose of the ICU/Anaesthesia Registrar:
- Deliver safe, compassionate care in theatre, ICU, and other acute settings, in line with health and safety standards.
- Manage acute cases including airway emergencies, ICU care, post-op follow-up, medical deterioration, fluid/vascular access issues, resuscitation, and pain control.
- Support theatre activity under consultant supervision.
- Work closely with consultants in planning and delivering patient care.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide ICU care under consultant/intensivist supervision.
- Handover with incoming/outgoing teams to maintain continuity of care.
- Review and monitor ICU patients regularly, escalating concerns as needed.
- Record clinical findings clearly and promptly.
- Respond to emergencies and adverse incidents.
- Assist with patient transfers to ICU when required.
- Contribute to quality improvement, risk management, and service development.
- Support teaching and guidance of colleagues and junior staff.
- Participate in departmental projects and activities.
- Maintain professional standards in all duties.
- Follow all clinical, operational, and safety policies.
- Assist colleagues and provide support across the service when required.
Key requirements:
- General IMC registration or in the final process of registering with IMC
- Relevant qualifications/Professional exams i.e. MCAI, FCAI, MRCP or MRCS equivalent would help your application
- Valid ACLS & PALS
- Proven ICU/Anaesthesia experience in an acute hospital setting
- You will need to have passed either the IELTS or OET exam and hold a valid certificate. The two accepted standards are IELTS overall Band 7, not less than 6.5 in each domain or OET Grade B overall.

Salary range
- €69,580 - €81,937 per year
