Location: Private Hospital - Health Check Clinic
Reports to: Medical Director / Clinical Lead
Contract Type: Part-time - Monday, Wednesday and Friday
Salary: Competitive, commensurate with experience

Role Purpose:

The Doctor will deliver comprehensive medical health checks within a private hospital health check clinic. The role focuses on preventative healthcare, early identification of risk factors, and patient education. The Doctor will provide high-quality clinical assessments, clear reporting, and appropriate follow-up or referral when required.

We can consider those interested in a fixed term contract or contractor role!

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Consultation & Assessment:
  • Conduct face-to-face health assessment consultations with private patients
  • Review and interpret pre-completed health questionnaires
  • Assess presenting health concerns and reported symptoms
  • Obtain and document a comprehensive:
    • Medical history
    • History of allergies
    • Current and past medications
    • Relevant family medical history
    • Lifestyle analysis (diet, exercise, smoking, alcohol intake, stress, sleep)
P hysical Examination & Screening:

Perform appropriate examinations and screening assessments, including however not limited to:
  • Blood pressure measurement
  • Respiratory rate assessment
  • Spirometry testing
  • Vision and hearing assessments
  • Cardiovascular and respiratory system examination
  • Abdominal examination
  • Testicular examination (where clinically indicated and with informed consent)
Clinical Interpretation & Patient Advice:
  • Interpret clinical findings and screening results
  • Identify health risks and provide evidence-based advice
  • Offer preventative health guidance and lifestyle recommendations
  • Discuss results clearly and sensitively with patients
Reporting, Follow-Up & Referral:
  • Complete accurate and timely clinical reports following assessments
  • Provide written and verbal feedback to patients
  • Arrange follow-up consultations when required
  • Refer patients to appropriate specialists, diagnostics, or services where clinically indicated
  • Communicate with the patient's GP or consultant (with consent) to ensure continuity of care
Clinical Governance & Compliance:
  • Maintain accurate, confidential medical records in accordance with GDPR and hospital policies
  • Practice in line with Medical Council guidelines and professional standards
  • Participate in audit, quality improvement, and service development initiatives as required
Essential Requirements:

Qualifications & Registration:
  • Fully qualified Doctor
  • Full Irish driving licence and own transport
  • Full registration with the Medical Council
  • Eligible to practice medicine in Ireland
  • Current professional indemnity cover
Experience:
  • Experience in general practice or primary care
  • Strong background in preventative medicine and health screening
  • Experience conducting comprehensive medical examinations
Skills & Competencies:
  • Excellent clinical and diagnostic skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patient-focused and preventative care approach
  • High standard of clinical documentation and reporting
  • Ability to work independently within a multidisciplinary team
  • Professional, empathetic, and discreet manner
Desirable:
  • Experience in a private healthcare setting
  • Interest or additional training in lifestyle or preventative medicine
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record systems

Salary range

  • €80 - €90 per hour
