The Role
As an Emergency Room Nurse, you will provide rapid assessment, stabilization, and high-quality emergency care to patients presenting with a wide range of medical, surgical, trauma, and critical care conditions. Working within a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment, you will play a vital role in triage, emergency interventions, patient monitoring, and ensuring the delivery of safe, patient-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform rapid patient assessments and triage using recognised triage systems
- Deliver emergency nursing care to adult and paediatric patients
- Monitor, assess, and document patient condition, vital signs, and clinical progress
- Recognise and respond promptly to deteriorating patients and medical emergencies
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and prescribed treatments
- Assist with trauma care, resuscitation, stabilisation, and emergency procedures
- Initiate emergency protocols and standing orders within scope of practice
- Prepare and assist with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
- Collaborate with physicians, allied health professionals, and multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient outcomes
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic patient records and clinical documentation
- Monitor patients awaiting treatment and escalate concerns appropriately
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and quality standards
- Participate in emergency preparedness training, simulations, and quality improvement initiatives
- GNM, B.Sc Nursing or BSN qualification
- Minimum 4 years' recent experience in an Emergency Department, Accident & Emergency (A&E), Trauma Unit, or Critical Care setting
- Registered Nurse registration in the UK, USA, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, or Jamaica
- Strong emergency assessment, triage, and critical thinking skills
- Experience managing acutely ill and injured patients in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in IV therapy, emergency medications, and patient monitoring
- Computer proficiency and experience with electronic medical records
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Current BLS certification required
- ACLS certification desirable
- PALS and TNCC certifications desirable
