Emergency Medicine Registrar - Locum (Non‑Contract)

We are currently recruiting Emergency Medicine Registrars for locum, non‑contract roles across multiple HSE hospitals in Ireland. These positions offer flexible shift patterns, including days, nights, and weekends, within busy Emergency Departments.
As a Tier 1 HSE agency, we have direct access to live and upcoming locum requirements nationwide.
Role Overview
The Emergency Medicine Registrar will work as part of a multidisciplinary Emergency Department team, providing high-quality acute care to patients presenting with a wide range of medical, surgical, and trauma-related conditions. The role involves independent clinical decision-making with appropriate senior support.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and manage acutely unwell patients in the Emergency Department
- Prioritise patients using triage principles and escalate care appropriately
- Perform and interpret relevant investigations (bloods, imaging, ECGs)
- Initiate and manage treatment plans in line with HSE and hospital protocols
- Carry out relevant emergency procedures within scope of competence
- Communicate effectively with consultants, nursing staff, and allied health professionals
- Ensure accurate, timely clinical documentation
- Participate in handovers and departmental workflows
- Maintain patient safety and clinical governance standards at all times
Essential Requirements
- IMC Registration (or eligibility to register)
- Experience working at Registrar level in Emergency Medicine
- Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced clinical environment
- Strong communication and clinical decision‑making skills
- Flexibility to cover ad‑hoc or short‑notice shifts
- Previous experience in Irish or UK Emergency Departments
- ALS / ATLS certification
