We are seeking an experienced and motivated Emergency Medicine Consultant to join the Emergency Department at University Hospital Limerick, the Model 4 acute hospital for the Mid-West region.

The Emergency Department manages a high volume of complex, undifferentiated, and high-acuity presentations, offering consultants a challenging and rewarding clinical environment with significant scope for leadership and service development.

Key Responsibilities
The Emergency Medicine Consultant will play a central role in both the clinical and strategic delivery of emergency care at UHL, including:
- Providing senior clinical decision-making and consultant-level care for patients presenting to the Emergency Department
- Leading and overseeing clinical governance, quality assurance, patient safety, and risk management within the ED
- Supporting the delivery of timely patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and appropriate disposition
- Providing leadership on the acute floor, including escalation management and coordination of care with inpatient teams
- Participating in the Emergency Medicine consultant rota, including evenings and weekends as required
- Supervising, mentoring, and training NCHDs, advanced nurse practitioners, and multidisciplinary colleagues
- Contributing to education, teaching, audit, quality improvement initiatives, and service development
- Collaborating closely with consultant colleagues across all specialties to ensure integrated, patient-centred emergency care
- Supporting national and local Emergency Medicine Programme objectives, including patient flow and unscheduled care pathways
- Eligibility for registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC) on the Specialist Division in Emergency Medicine
- Demonstrated experience at Consultant or Senior Specialist level in Emergency Medicine
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
