Job Opportunity: Consultant Neurologist
HSE Hospital - South of Ireland
The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Neurologist to join a dynamic and progressive multidisciplinary team within a leading HSE acute hospital in the South of Ireland. This permanent position offers the chance to contribute to the ongoing development of neurology services, deliver high-quality patient care, and participate in both inpatient and outpatient neurological management.
Key Responsibilities
Provide specialist neurological assessment, diagnosis, and management to adult patients across inpatient wards, ED referrals, and outpatient clinics.
Lead and support a multidisciplinary neurology service in collaboration with nursing, neurophysiology, rehabilitation, and allied health colleagues.
Contribute to the delivery and development of neurology care pathways, including stroke, epilepsy, movement disorders, MS, and neuromuscular services.
Participate in the on-call rota as required.
Engage in clinical governance, audit, quality improvement, and risk-management activities.
Support teaching and training of NCHDs, medical students, and allied health professionals.
Opportunities available for participation in clinical research and service innovation.
Requirements
Specialist Registration (or eligibility for Specialist Registration) in Neurology with the Irish Medical Council (IMC).
Relevant postgraduate qualifications and completed specialist training.
Strong clinical, communication, and leadership skills.
Experience in service development and multidisciplinary team collaboration desirable.
