Senior Speech & Language Therapist
Location: South Dublin
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Senior Speech & Language Therapist to join a dynamic multidisciplinary team within a specialist adult mental health and neuropsychiatric service.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality assessment and intervention services for adults presenting with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties. This position offers the opportunity to work within a collaborative, recovery-focused environment committed to evidence-based practice and person-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders
- Develop and implement individualized therapy and intervention plans
- Deliver evidence-based therapy in individual and group settings
- Monitor, evaluate, and document client progress accurately
- Manage complex clinical cases and make appropriate clinical decisions
- Work collaboratively with service users, families, carers, and multidisciplinary team members
- Support decision-making and capacity assessments where appropriate
- Maintain clinical records and reports in line with professional standards and local policies
- Provide clinical leadership, supervision, and support to staff and students
- Participate in service planning, audits, quality improvement initiatives, and professional development activities
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the Speech & Language Therapy service
- Ensure adherence to best practice standards, safeguarding, and clinical governance procedures
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or master's degree in Speech & Language Therapy
- CORU registration as a Speech & Language Therapist in Ireland
- Dysphagia qualification accredited by IASLT or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years' post-qualification clinical experience working with adults
- Minimum 1 years' experience supporting adults with acquired disorders
- Demonstrated expertise in assessment and treatment of acquired communication and swallowing difficulties
- Strong understanding of evidence-based therapeutic interventions
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
- Proven leadership and clinical decision-making skills
- Compassionate, patient-centred approach to care
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience working within mental health, neuropsychiatric, or rehabilitation services
- Experience supervising staff or student therapists
- Knowledge of recovery-oriented practice and multidisciplinary care models
- Participation in service development, audits, or research initiatives
