We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Director of Nursing for a top nursing home in Galway


Purpose of the Post

To support the Director of Nursing in the clinical and professional leadership of the care team and to deliver direct resident care

General Duties and Responsibilities

To Ensure that the provision of a high standard of care to the residents/ Patients and their family members/representatives in is consistent with the mission, vision, values and strategic Healthcare plan .
To Promote and maintain resident safety and provide quality care through respecting the dignity, privacy and rights of the resident.
To Develop relationships with residents in order to better facilitate resident autonomy, informed choice and evidence-based decision-making.
To Encourage recognition of the resident as an individual; ensuring residents' rights, needs and comfort are given priority during the provision of care.
To execute style of management that maximizes the resident's/ patients capacity to exercise personal autonomy and choice.
To Ensure effective communication with residents/patients in a manner that meets their needs.
To Ensure continuity of care by providing information concerning the resident's/patients circumstances, medication, treatment and/or ongoing support by medical or other professionals to Health and Social Care Professionals, or any subsequent care provider, as appropriate.
To Ensure that residents are facilitated to access legal and financial advice in any situation where it appears, they are subject to any form of financial abuse by a third party.
To Arrange a comprehensive assessment, by an appropriate Health and Social Care Professional of the health, personal and social care needs of a resident or a person who intends to be a resident immediately before or on the person's admission
To Ensure the preparation of an individual care plan, based on the assessment, for a resident is no later than 48 hours after that resident's admission, making the individual care plan available, in an accessible format, to the resident and, where appropriate, his or her family members/representative.


Essential Qualifications

Registered General Nurse on the Register of Nurses held by Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI). Post registration qualification in nursing people with dementia.
Evidence of continuous professional development.
A post registration management qualification in health or a related field.

Desirable:
Post Graduate Diploma in Gerontology
QQI Level 6 or Higher Certificate in Management and/or Leadership
Essential Experience

Minimum three years post graduate experience with a minimum of two years' experience in Care of the Older Person
Have not less than 3 years' experience in a management capacity in the health and social area.

Desirable Experience:

Experience in Psycho geriatric Nursing Care/Psychiatry/Adult Disabled.
In-depth knowledge of the ageing process.
Essential Skills Criteria:

Prior experience with Microsoft Office and typing.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Organized and resourceful.

Flexibility/adaptability
Excellent written /numerical/analytical skills
Strong IT Skills
Highly organised
