Our client is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to support the Director of Nursing in the delivery of safe, high-quality, person-centred mental health care for their Dublin site.
This senior leadership role provides clinical oversight, governance, and operational leadership, ensuring nursing services are delivered in line with Mental Health Commission requirements, national legislation, and best practice.
The Role
The ADON will provide professional leadership to nursing teams, supporting clinical standards, quality improvement, risk management, and staff development across the hospital. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams and senior management to ensure robust clinical governance and continuous service improvement.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Clinical and professional leadership of nursing services
- Oversight of clinical governance, risk management, incident reporting, and audit
- Ensuring compliance with the Mental Health Act, MHC regulations, and NMBI standards
- Supporting staff education, workforce planning, and performance management
- Contributing to service development, quality initiatives, and strategic planning
- Deputising for the Director of Nursing as required
Essential Requirements
- Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) with NMBI
- Minimum 7 years post-registration experience, including senior management experience in adult mental health services
- Strong working knowledge of Mental Health Commission standards, governance, and regulatory compliance
- Proven experience in clinical leadership, staff management, and service development
- Demonstrated commitment to quality, patient safety, and continuous professional development

Salary range
- €71,000 - €86,000 per year
