About us
We're a niche job board business that specialises in health & social care in the UK and Ireland
Our mission
Choose to enjoy work
We believe healthcare and care professionals deserve employers who align with their values and goals. That’s why we provide in-depth career advice and detailed employer insights—so you can find the right job and make informed career choices. In a market crowded with generalist job boards and platforms backed by large, non-independent organisations, we believe there’s a real need for a small specialist. One that understands the unique challenges of healthcare and social care recruitment, puts the frontline workers first, and focuses on quality—not just quantity and profit.

Founded in 2008
Our journey
Nurses.co.uk launched in 2008—though initially, it went live as rgnjobsite.co.uk while we worked to secure the Nurses.co.uk domain. We got the brand off the ground by attending events and building strong relationships with employers. As momentum grew, we launched Socialcare.co.uk and Healthjobs.co.uk to run alongside it. To complete the stable, we acquired the Irish-based Healthcarejobs.ie—the only site we brought in that was already up and running.
2008 - founded
Launched in 2008, we set out to do things differently—as a smaller, independent alternative to the big generalist job boards like Totaljobs. We saw a real need for a platform that not only lists jobs but also supports healthcare professionals with career advice that informed and inspired.
2012 - first articles
We first started publishing articles written by our audience (one of the earliest was written by the founder's brother, an RMN).
2018 - YouTube channel
Facebook had been our social of choice, but we launched a YouTube channel in 2018 to house our library of career videos.
2020 - 100 contributors
By now, over 100 people had become contributors. So we felt we could justifiably call ourselves a community!
2022 - 1.5m visitors
Thanks to our unique content we grew a steady following and in the early 20s we went over 1m users in one year.
2024 - employer branding
We began inviting employers to share their employee messages and brand.
2025 - moving home
In early 2025 we made the big and difficult decision to leave the platform we had built, and which had been our home. Jobiqo now power our websites with advanced technology.
The future...
We believe a successful job board will be able to accurately match jobseekers with the best jobs for them, and help them choose the right career pathway. AI and matching technology will play a considerable role.

Matt Farrah, Founder
I've been working on job boards since 2002. I met my now business partner soon after 9/11 when he had just launched the world's first aviation job site. Timing's key in business...
As his employee, I helped him develop that business into the sector's market leading brand.
After it was acquired in 2006, and deciding we worked well together, we co-founded Niche Jobs.
Early in 2008 we launched a nursing job board to rival Staffnurse.com. By the end of that year we had launched 3 others - all in healthcare and social care.
The industry has changed a great deal in that time, and so have I.
- Staffnurse.com has disappeared
- I've lost hair and gone a little greyer and had four children
We are a very small business by today's job board standards. So, I'm extremely grateful to our audience for continuing to use us!
In a world where we are rubbing up against global job boards worth $billions, that means a lot!
Thank you x
