Social Worker, Children’ Disabilities Service – Co Meath
Social Worker required for full time locum assignment to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team within a children’s Physical and Sensory Disabilities service based in Navan, Co. Meath.
This role will be part time for an initial 6 month assignment with the possibility of extension.
Applicants will be required to hold a full drivers licence and available to start as soon as possible.
The successful candidate will work as part of a well-structured multidisciplinary team and will have the following duties and responsibilities:
To work in partnership with service users, parents, families/carers and others as appropriate to address the needs of the service user.
To link service users and their carer’s/families to the services and resources appropriate to their need and planning care pathways
To work specifically with the needs and goals of the person in the context of their relationship system – family, carers, day and residential staff - exploring and addressing whatever in the person’s life is helping them to make progress and what if anything is impeding their progress and contribution.
Assessment of persons with intellectual disability and their family and where necessary ongoing social work and periodic reviews.
To identify the most appropriate social work methods that would best enhance the maximum functioning of the person with intellectual disability.
To be responsible for linking clients with available resources whether these lie within the client themselves, their family, the service or the community.
To inform service users and their families of their rights, entitlements, benefits and services.
To participate in program planning and policy formation within the service when appropriate.
To participle positively in the development of a professional social work team within the service.
Work as member of the multi-disciplinary team and to attend all meetings/ case conferences as required.
Facilitate communication between therapists and families to provide a cohesive approach to service provision
A recognised qualification as a Professionally Qualified Social Worker
Full registration with CORU
Previous experience working within a disability service would be desirable
Permission to work in Ireland
Professional approach to work
Flexibility in work practice
Current Garda clearance
Access to a car and full drivers licence
Available to start as soon as possible
