Social Worker, Children’ Disabilities Service – Co Meath

 

Social Worker required for full time locum assignment to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team within a children’s Physical and Sensory Disabilities service based in Navan, Co. Meath.

 

This role will be part time for an initial 6 month assignment.

 

Applicants will be required to hold a full drivers licence and available to start as soon as possible.

 

The successful candidate will work as part of a well-structured multidisciplinary team and will have the following duties and responsibilities:

 

  • To work in partnership with service users, parents, families/carers and others as appropriate to address the needs of the service user.

  • To link service users and their carer’s/families to the services and resources appropriate to their need and planning care pathways

  • To work specifically with the needs and goals of the person in the context of their relationship system – family, carers, day and residential staff - exploring and addressing whatever in the person’s life is helping them to make progress and what if anything is impeding their progress and contribution.

  • Assessment of persons with intellectual disability and their family and where necessary ongoing social work and periodic reviews.

  • To identify the most appropriate social work methods that would best enhance the maximum functioning of the person with intellectual disability.

  • To be responsible for linking clients with available resources whether these lie within the client themselves, their family, the service or the community.

  • To inform service users and their families of their rights, entitlements, benefits and services.

  • To participate in program planning and policy formation within the service when appropriate.

  • To participle positively in the development of a professional social work team within the service.

  • Work as member of the multi-disciplinary team and to attend all meetings/ case conferences as required.

  • Facilitate communication between therapists and families to provide a cohesive approach to service provision

 

The Candidate:

  • A recognised qualification as a Professionally Qualified Social Worker

  • Full registration with CORU

  • Previous experience working within a disability service would be desirable

  • Permission to work in Ireland

  • Professional approach to work

  • Flexibility in work practice

  • Current Garda clearance

  • Access to a car and full drivers licence

  • Available to start as soon as possible
